Will was one of the all-time favorite players of Racine Raiders fans. Chants of “Will-bert! Will-bert!” can still be heard echoing through the air at Historic Horlick Athletic Field. He was the anchor of the Raiders defensive line for over two decades. At times, he even got to carry the football when he was put in the backfield as part of a “two ton package” the Raiders would sometimes deploy at the goal line.

After hanging up the cleats in 2001, Kennedy picked up a clipboard and he’d take over as the team’s head coach in 2014, winning a national championship in his first season leading the team and again in 2023.
