Racine Raiders hall of famer and former defensive coordinator Pete Deates will return to the role for the 2025 season. Deates will replace Jahamal Hardy who stepped away from the position to focus on his new role as defensive coordinator at Milwaukee Lutheran High School.

Deates served as defensive coordinator for the Raiders from 2017 through 2019. The Raiders defense was so dominant in 2019 that they scored more points than they allowed to opponents during the season.

Deates hall of fame playing career ran from 1996 through 2005 as a linebacker and long-snapper for the Raiders. He was a multiple year defensive captain for the team. He earned first-team American Football Association (AFA) honors at linebacker in 2000 and 2002 and was a second-team selection in 2001. He was named team most valuable player following the 2001 national championship season. Deates was named to the All-Midwest Football Tournament team in 2001 as well.

Deates played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He was an All-WIAC selection at linebacker in 1993.

Deates was inducted into the Minor League Football News Hall of Fame in 2007.

The Racine Raiders season begins on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Historic Horlick Athletic Field.
