Lincoln-Way Patriots

The Patriots were founded in late 2008 by head coach Steve Strimel (2009-present) and owner John Busch (2009-2012). They chose the name “Patriots” to honor the life and sacrifice of Operation Enduring Freedom war hero Jacob Lowell (KIA 2 June 2007 Afghanistan). The team went on to become the first expansion team to ever complete an undefeated regular season and also the first of its kind to compete for an MSFL title (lost 37-14 to the Racine Threat). Since then, the Patriots have been competing in one of the nation’s best semi-pro football leagues, boasting three playoff appearances, two conference championship games and that title game appearance in 2009. All within the first four years of existence. The franchise was bought in early 2012 by current owner Jim McClelland, Jr. They have completed an undefeated regular season in 2012 and 2013. The team disbanded in 2020 but will rejoin the MSFL in 2021.
