Matt was an All-American tight end for the Raiders from 1990-2001. After retiring as a player, Nelson picked up a clipboard and joined the Raiders coaching staff in 2002. He’d work his way to offensive coordinator in 2012, helping guide the Raiders to a national championship in 2012. He joined the board of directors in 2009. In 2014, he was elected president of the team and he resigned from his coaching position to dedicate his efforts fully to the administrative aspects of the organization. The Raiders would claim their ninth national title in 2014, Matt’s first year as president.
