The Racine Raiders will remain in the MidStates Football League (MSFL) for the 2021 season. It will be the team’s ninth season in the league after taking a hiatus in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Raiders originally joined the MSFL in 2010 but would move to the Elite Mid-Continental Football League (EMCFL) in 2011. Due to excessive travel costs in the EMCFL, which had several teams in the Detroit area, the Raiders rejoined the MSFL in 2012 and have been an active member ever since. The Raiders won the league championship in the MSFL in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2019. The Raiders are tied with the Chicago Thunder for most MSFL titles in league history with four.
The MSFL began in 1999 and went until 2003. The league temporarily disbanded in 2004 but regrouped in 2005 and has operated every year since. It’s one of the most established leagues in the country with most of the member teams having won league championships in the MSFL or other leagues or national championships. The league calls itself “The League of Champions” due to that track record. There are currently nine teams signed up for the MSFL in 2021. The teams come from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. The Raiders are currently the only Wisconsin team in the league.
