The Racine Raiders have offered free admission to all Racine Raiders home games to active duty, reserve duty, and veterans of military service for decades. The team’s board of directors approved expanding the program at the last meeting on February 9 to include fire, police, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) for the 2022 season.
“These public servants have been on the front lines faithfully serving our community through all of the challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Don Wadewitz, Vice President of Marketing. “Just as we do with our military professionals, this is a small way for our community-based organization to tell them, ‘Thank you for all you do.'”
The idea was brought to board President Matt Nelson by Racine Raiders hall of fame player, coach, and administrator Bob Milkie. To receive the free admission, fire, police, and EMT professionals need to go to the free admission gate near the main ticket booth at Historic Horlick Athletic Field and provide documentation of their employment (badge, identification card, or other official documentation). People accompanying them should enter through the regular entry gate with a ticket.
The board of directors and marketing team is also discussing ways to honor educators and medical personnel in our community for all that they’ve done during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These announcements will be made at a later time.
