Anton played for the Raiders for nine seasons from 1964-1973. Anton, a Racine native, played wide receiver, tight end, and holder for the team. He hauled in a 97-yard touchdown pass from Bob May and helped the team win 27 straight games from 1963-1966.
Anton was honored as the Racine Athlete of the Year by the Old Timers Athletic Club in 1963.
He played at UW-Whitewater and was a member of three conference championship teams. Anton made the All-State College Conference team as a sophomore, junior, and senior. He earned honorable mention Little All-America honors as a wide receiver at Whitewater. Anton caught 101 passes for 1,731 yards in four seasons. He set records for most passes caught in one game, most yards gained on passes in one game, most touchdown passes caught in one game, longest touchdown pass, most yardage gained on pass catches in one season, and most passes caught in one season. He also played baseball at Whitewater and lef the team in batting average and home runs as a catcher in 1962. He was inducted into the Whitewater Hall of Fame in 1973.
“He was a great teammate,” said Raiders hall of famer Bob Milkie. “He never missed practice.”
Anton was inducted into the American Football Association Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
