Nearly 50 prospective players attended the Racine Raiders first tryout for the 2022 season at Washington Park High School in Racine on Saturday afternoon. About half of the participants weren’t members of the 2021 Raiders team. Participants ran through a variety of drills including shuttles and the 40-yard dash. The participants were then broken into position groups to run through position-specific drills.
The Raiders will host a second tryout on Saturday, February 26, from 1-3 pm at Washington Park High School in Racine. Head coach Wilbert Kennedy said the tryout on February 26 won’t be one where players run through assessment drills, indicating it’ll be more of an organized team activity that will be run more like a practice than a tryout. Players that didn’t attend the February 12 tryout are welcome to attend the February 26 team event.
Prospective players should complete a short recruiting questionnaire prior to the February 26 event. All prospective players will be contact by Kennedy prior to the February 26 team event. The Raiders open their season on May 14 in a Border Battle game with the Michigan Gators.
